MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects – 9 months internship (MArch students please)

The Ghost Residency is a competitive 9-month internship for graduate architects offered by MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects. The successful applicant will work directly with Brian MacKay-Lyons (Royal Architectural Institute of Canada 2015 Gold Medal recipient/Royal Institute of British Architects International Fellowship recipient) in the apprenticeship model in the master builder tradition.

This residency is based at MacKay-Lyons’ studio at his farm on the Atlantic Coast of Nova Scotia, Canada – the satellite office of MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects; the site of the legendary Ghost Architectural Laboratory; and in the historic village where many of the firm’s best known projects continue to be built. This is the research workshop for our house design practice.

The intern will participate in all aspects of the design process as well as farm activities with Brian. The farm truck can be made available for local transportation. Accommodation on site is provided in a newly constructed rusted steel apprentice’s cottage (Enough House). The intern will receive an honorarium commensurate with his/her experience level, which includes accommodation. Ghost Residency 2018 begins on September 1st, 2018.

Interested applicants can send portfolios to maya@mlsarchitects.ca by June 30th, 2018.
