Architects Without Frontiers -Nepal 2016/2017

Architects Without Frontiers – Nepal is in its 11th consecutive year, offering the opportunity to work in a community development project and post earthquake reconstruction alongside local tradesmen in a Nepali village, impacting the lives and architecture of the student and the community.

 

Following the success of June/July trip, the December/January trip is now open for applications.

Basic outline of the trip are as follows:

Dates : 28 December – 24 January.
2-3 Days intro in Kathmandu, visit 2 historical sites
1 day travel to Gorkha or Lamjung
14 Days working alongside local tradesmen constructing a facility for a small village.
5 Day trek (TBC)
1 Day rest
1 Day travel to Bhaktapur – world heritage listed city
3 Days in Bhaktapur – world heritage listed city

Travel to Kathmandu
Last few days in Kathmandu – visiting Palace & Durbar Square, shopping etc

As with previous years Nepali Architecture students will join us on the construction phase of the trip, continuing our close ties with Nepal Engineering college.
